Discover Dragonfly Haven: A Unique Therapeutic Farm and Donkey Sanctuary in Nova Scotia
Nestled on 36 acres in West Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, Dragonfly Haven Therapeutic Farm is a special place where people of all ages can connect with friendly farm animals like donkeys, miniature horses, goats, pigs, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Founded by Charlotte Paul in 2017, the farm offers a peaceful setting to cuddle, brush, and bond with these gentle creatures.
Introducing the Donkey Care Farm Sanctuary
Charlotte is now expanding her dream by creating the Donkey Care Farm, a sanctuary dedicated exclusively to donkeys. This new space will provide safe homes for donkeys who are abandoned, abused, or in need due to unexpected life changes—something rare in Nova Scotia. The sanctuary will also support volunteers dealing with mental health challenges such as anxiety, PTSD, depression, or addiction. By caring for the donkeys, volunteers find a calming environment to heal and build confidence.
How You Can Help
The Donkey Care Farm is actively fundraising to build a barn and paddock to welcome more donkeys. You can support by:
Donating money for care, food, and shelter
Sponsoring a donkey for $100/year (includes a T-shirt and visits)
Contributing supplies like bedding, grain, or leg wraps
Volunteering your time to help with construction or animal care
Upcoming fundraising events include a ticket auction and raffle on November 3 at the West Brooklyn Community Hall.
